White Birch

 

Betula papyrifera

Mid-sized tree with sometimes more than one trunk. Branches can spread up, horizontally, or droop down depending on age/size. Marked by its white, curling, papery bark that reveals pink/orange underside when peeled back; black narrow slash marks up trunk. Twigs are shiny and burgandy in color.

Leaves:

2-5” long, rounded at base ending in a point at the end. Densely toothed along entire edge. Dark and dull green above, light green underside.
