Sycamore 

 

Platanus occidentalis


Sycamores often grow in wet soil, and would be found by a river bank or lake. They are easily identifiable by the smooth, whitish, and peeling bark. The base of the trunk is larger and has dark brown scaly ridges. Fruit is a 1 inch diameter ball, that is usually brown or green and has hair tufts. (These fruits mature in autumn.) Paired drooping flowers in spring.
 

Leaves: 

Leaves have 3-5 broad short pointed lobe, they are wider than they are long. They are green-yellow leaves with a lighter underside.
