Rusty Blackbird 

 

Euphagus carolinus

Physical description:

Adult male and females have the same coloration. They have black glossy bodies checked with brown around the head and neck. (Brown coloring appears mainly in the summer.) Both males and females are recognizable by their bright yellow eyes. Their beaks are black and slightly turned downward. They have short sleek tails. They are approximately 9 inches in length.

Habitat:

Bogs, wet woods. 

Voice: 

Long phrases and notable loud “eee eee”s
