River Birch 

 

Small to mid-sized tree often with several trunks that branch out directly from the ground. Different from the white birch, almost every part of the trunk has peeling bark which is more gray on the outside and salmon colored to orange on the inside. 

Leaves:

Kite shaped (base being the side with a broader point) with straight parallel side veins. Toothing is tightly packed and sines outer edge (but does not begin directly at base near stem). Glossy dark green above, dull light green below. Leaf stock coated in small hairs
