Red-eyed Vireo 

 

Vireo olivaceus

Physical description: 

Male and female have the same coloring: Red or dark eye. Sleek olive/grey head with two black streaks above and through the eye. Olive, grey, black and white streaked wings and tail. White under belly. Beak is grey and hooked slightly downward. Measures about 6 inches in length. Hard to see, often heard. 

Habitat:

Deciduous woods

Voice: 

Similar to a robin’s song, but more connected. “cheer-up, cheerily, cheerup” phrases often repeated.
