Dark-eyed Junco 

 

Junco hyemalis 

Physical Description:

The slate colored variety native to the area is a medium gray on top with a white underneath. The beak and feet are a pale pink. From a distance they look almost entirely gray on top however the head is a bit darker than the rest of the body.

Habitat:

Coniferous and mixed forests. Seen in open areas and suburban yards; this is a common bird feeder visitor.
 

Voice:

Simple single-note trill.
