Coopers Hawk 

 

Accipiter cooperii 

 

Physical Description: 

Coopers Hawks measure about 16 inches in length. Their wing span is reletively short for a hawk. In flight, one can see the hawks underside of a barred white and black. The tail from below is often banded grey and white. The neck and upper wings are barred a reddish brown. When perched, Coopers Hawks appear slender and falcon-like. They have a rounded tail. They have a large stout neck. Their heads are normally a light brown to grey color. 

 

Habitat: 

Woods and woods edges. 

 

Voice:

Mid-pitched, grating "gak"
