Chipping Sparrow 

 

Spizella passerina

Physical Description:

One of the smaller sparrows (5 -5.5”) Wings are brown with black streaks, neck and underneath is a light gray.  
 

Habitat:

Fringes of grassy woodlands, gardens, city parks, brushy pastures, and suburban yards.

Voice:

Single noted musical trill, kind of like a sewing machine
