Black-capped Chickadee

 

Poecile atricapillus

Physical Description:

Very small (4.75- 5.75”) perching bird that is constantly flitting around from branch to branch. They have a black cap and throat, white cheeks, gray back, and dull white underparts. Wings are edged with white.
 

Habitat:

Deciduous and mixed forests, open woodlands, suburban areas

Voice:

chick-a-dee-dee-dee, or a whistled fee-bee with the lower note often doubled (this call is very common)
