Populus grandidentata

Big-toothed Aspen can grow up to 60 feet tall. They have smooth, greenish, thin bark that will turn dark brown and eventually flake off. They prefer sandy upland soils. Often found with Quaking Aspen. Big-toothed can be easily distinguished from Quaking by the large curved teeth of the Big-tooth.

Leaves:

Broad and ovate, with a short pointed tip. Rounded at the base. Curved teeth along the perimeter of the entire leaf. Leafstalks are long, flattened, and slender. Turn a pale yellow in autumn.
